ABSTRACT
Actels new Smartfusion mixed-signal FPGA family integrates an FPGA fabric, a Arm Cortex-M3 microcontroller subsystem and programmable analog functions on a single chip. Traditional designs featuring an separate FPGA and microcontroller sometimes run to boundaries in latency, performance, board space constraints or number of available I/O’s. The standard Amba bus on the Smartfusion connects all main resources on the chip.
This presentation gives an overview how Amba is implemented on Smartfusion and how a user easily can build his own peripherals and blocks and connect it to the system bus.
